I can face what is here and choose how to respond.
The Adult carries the capacity for responsibility. In its functional expression, it takes responsibility for our choices, actions, needs, and their consequences, rather than expecting others to take care of them. When distorted, it can express itself as responsibility. In this form, it feels compelled to take care of our own needs as well as the needs and problems of others, taking on responsibilities that may not belong to us and finding it difficult to step back or let others manage their own.
When this card comes up in a reading...
The Adult may be pointing to a need for responsibility, or revealing where responsibility has taken over. It invites us to consider what is ours to take responsibility for, what is not, and whether we are responding with mature choice or trying to manage more than is ours to carry.
